Our Story

From Maun to the World: The Story of Bots Quality Baskets

Every basket we create carries the warmth of our hands, the rhythm of our culture, and the spirit of Botswana’s craftsmanship.

Meet Our Founder — Ms. Thitaku Kushonya

“Bots Quality Baskets was founded by Ms. Thitaku Kushonya, a passionate artisan and trainer from Maun, Botswana. With decades of experience in traditional weaving, she has dedicated her life to preserving the cultural heritage of Botswana’s baskets — symbols of beauty, patience, and resilience.”

“What started as a small community workshop has grown into a thriving network of women artisans across the Okavango region. Together, they weave not only baskets, but also hope, empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods.”

Each basket tells a story — a story of women rising together through art and tradition.

Each artisan works by hand, shaping every curve and motif with precision.
STAGE 3

The baskets are inspected, trimmed, and prepared for homes around the world.
STAGE 4

Empowering Women Through Craft

“Through training, mentorship, and fair trade practices, Bots Quality Baskets empowers women across Ngamiland to turn their craft into sustainable income. Many of our artisans are mothers and community leaders who use their skills to support their families and educate their children.”
